Marie-Christine Dufour was born in Quebec City and studied at the Université Laval. She was admitted to the Barreau du Québec in 1983.  She chiefly practices labour law, workplace health and safety law, insurance (life and disability) law and pension law.  Ms. Dufour regularly argues cases before administrative and judicial tribunals.  She also works as a legal counsellor for many public and private sector unions.
  

She also delivers presentations at conferences on various subjects including: medical screening tests, and the indemnification of victims of workplace injuries and harassment and violence.

  
She is a member of the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers, and vice-chair and executive board member of the Quebec chapter.
  
She is also a member of the Réseau des femmes d'affaires du Québec Inc. and a member of the Comité de liaison du Barreau du Québec avec la Commission des lésions professionnelles.
