Henri Grondin was born in Quebec City and studied at the Séminaire de Trois-Rivières and the Université Laval de Québec. He was admitted to the Bar of the Province of Quebec in 1963. He mainly practices Labour Law and Administrative Law.
Mr. Grondin is a Queen’s Counsellor and recipient of the 1963 Prix du Barreau de Paris for best results in the Bar exams. He is currently honorary Consul of Finland, Chairman of the Board of the "Musée de la civilisation du Québec", Honorary Lifetime Member of the American Bar Association and the Canadian Bar Association and member of the Advisory Committee of the Law Faculty of Laval University. He is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Quebec Symphony Orchestra.
In the past, he was a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Hague (1989 – 1995), President of the U.I.A. (Union Internationale des Avocats) (1991 – 1992), President of CIB (Conférence Internationale des Barreaux francophones) (2004-2005), Chairman of the "Conseil consultatif de la justice du Québec" (1980 – 1986) and Chairman of the Quebec Symphonic Orchestra (1979 – 1983). He was also Bâtonnier général du Québec (1975-1976), Bâtonnier de Québec (1974-1975) and member of the Board of directors of the Law Faculty of Laval University (1974 – 1975).
