Me Stéphanie Julien primarily practises in labour law and workplace health and safety. Before joining our firm, she practised medical liability litigation for 5 years and worked in labour relations, with the Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec legal team.
Me Julien has a Master's degree with honours in health law, which she obtained in 2001 from the Université Montesquieu-Bordeaux IV in Bordeaux, a city where she also did a practicum in litigation in a legal firm. She has also had the opportunity to study common law, when she was registered for an L.L.B., which she received in 2000 from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.
In 1998, she participated in an international university exchange and completed courses in French civil law and international law at the Université Vincennes Saint-Denis-Paris VIII. During her studies, she stood out in the simulated trial contest at the University of Sherbrooke, where she won the Maurice-Delorme prize awarded by the Barreau de Saint-François for the best submission to the Court. She has received several merit scholarships, including one as part of the Labour Law course. A graduate of the University of Sherbrooke Faculty of Law in 1998, she was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 2002.
Publications
Me Julien has been the speaker at continuing professional education workshops on doctor-patient privilege and confidentiality of the medical file for the Fédération des médecins omnipraticiens du Québec.
She has written an article on formal commitments affecting insurability in insurance policies, as well as a brief on the concept of reparable damage.
